Child Therapist

About Neil

Hi,

I’m Neil and I am a therapist at IntraQuest. I am passionate about this role and being part of such a forward-thinking organisation. I am also passionate about my family, music, football and acting. The latter of which has been integral in my progress towards becoming a therapist, having studied acting at University and a further three years training at the Manchester School of Acting, encouraging an openness and freedom of expression that has been supportive of my work in the playroom. Music has always been a significant aspect of my life and I enjoy DJ’ing and creating electronic music during my free time, which, to be fair, is largely utilised by spending time with my wife and two lovely children, who’s company I enjoy dearly.

Becoming a dad has been the catalyst behind my journey into working with children, with IntraQuest having supported me throughout this process, and beyond. They have provided me with voluntary roles within their organisation and at Oldham Council. These roles have included play groups, mother & baby groups, shadowing social workers and providing support as a Therapeutic Support Assistant for messy play groups. I have also trained separately as a ‘Relax Kids’ Coach, working at a variety of schools, and a college. During this period I became certain that my future lay in working with children therapeutically and I feel very proud to now be a permanent member of the IntraQuest family, having completed training as a Person-Centred Play Therapist. Since qualifying, I have continued with my training and I am now able to provide AUTPlay Therapy and Filial Therapy to individuals and their families.

My experiences both in and out of these roles have informed a deeply-held belief that connection is the bedrock of any human relationship, without which, we are unable to enact change and make progress in any meaningful way. Therefore, I view my position as one that can offer a connection to others that is safe, trusting and supportive, at a time when it may be needed the most. If play can be accepted as being the language of a child, then play can provide children with the necessary vocabulary to navigate their life, moving forward.

Trained in Play Therapy, Filial Therapy, AUTPlay Therapy & Group Therapy.
