“My name is Jason Mckenna and I am the community based services Manager for Threshold, a local housing, advice and support charity delivering services with operations across the Greater Manchester area.

I manage a range of community based services including a housing related support service to vulnerable people in Oldham. This service is a partnership supporting customers moving into their first home or struggling to manage their current property.

As part of the local authority Early Help model The Partnership has been aligned to the local authority offer to improve households’ physical, social and emotional well-being, so that they do not need ongoing support from crisis and specialist services.

As part of the planning for changing the way we currently deliver services, Engagement training, a four course model designed for those frontline practitioners working with disengaged clients has been delivered by intraquest for all staff. This training has helped to enhance and develop our knowledge.

The engagement training has been a welcome refresher supporting our staff to develop new skills and techniques to move a person successfully through services achieving their desired outcomes.

This training has made all of us feel so much more confident in what can be very difficult challenging circumstances. It has increased our own self-awareness, skills and knowledge around how to improve our engagement with the customer group.

Karen has previously been involved in Threshold’s services and seeing her progress to where she has come to today confirms that the services we deliver are effective and have a positive impact on our customers.”
